On 24th September 2009 our Uncle lost his brave fight against pancreatic cancer.
He spent his last 5 weeks in the Pilgrims Hospice Cantebury. The first encounter I have ever had with such an organisation, and wow what an impact it made. It is the closest place you can imagine home from home could be like. They have a resident cat, but each day Aunty was allowed to take in her dog to visit, despite the fact that the dog chased the cat regularly.
The biggest impact for me was that in Uncle's dying hours they pulled a bed up alongside for Aunty and between them on the floor lay their dog as he peacefully died in his sleep.
If this has tugged at your heart in any way, as it did mine, please will you sponsor me as I walk the Paws 4 Pilgrims sponsored dog walk on 24 October 2009 with Bertie my rather playfull labradoodle, to raise money for Pilgrims Hospice Kent?
Please visit www.pilgrimshospice.org should you wish to learn anything more about the hospice.
My hope is to raise £1000 which would buy another drugs pump. At present they have 8, but they have 16 beds.
