Story
I have been given the amazing opportunity to ride in the Macmillan Charity Race at York on Saturday 14 June 2013
My Story
I rode and competed my own horse as a teenager, then had a break from riding while serving a four year apprenticeship to become a Master Saddler. After joining White Rose Saddlery in Malton I started to ride out for Colin Tinkler. He encouraged and helped me to ride in a few amateur races in the late 80's. Since then I have competed in eventing and dressage mostly on ex racehorses.
I lost my father to cancer aged 59. The support that the Macmillan nurses gave dad and my family made a real difference. My opportunity now to help them!!!
I grew up and went to school in York and travelled past York Racecourse on my way to college every day until I started work. Being a proud 'Yorkshire girl' the opportunity to ride in a race at such a prestigious racecourse in my home county will be an amazing honour. (Dad would be very proud of me).
Riding in the Macmillan Charity Race I realise will be a big challenge, getting race fit and raising as much money as possible. Cancer touches so many people's lives so let’s fundraise. Your contributions are hugely appreciated.
