As you’ve probably guessed I’m doing some kind of crazy bike ride, the ‘Just bike’ 50k cycle for charity on 3 October 2009, http://www.just-bike.co.uk/charity-bike-ride/default.asp. I believe it’s the equivalent of cycling from Bristol to Cardiff (which I am currently trying to ignore!).
The reason for this stupidity is to raise money for The Sarcoma Trust, http://www.sarcoma-uk.org/trust/index.html. This charity is extremely close to my heart. When my Dad was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma in 2002 there were no charities set up to represent this rare form of cancer, and therefore little support or information available to sufferers or their families. The Sarcoma Trust was set up in July 2007 and so is still fairly new and needs as much help and support as possible to get it off the ground.
I am cycling in memory of my Dad, and hopefully anything I raise will go towards making more people aware of this debilitating cancer, and supporting other families through what is inevitably a distressing and worrying time.
Therefore please dig deep, give as little or as much as you like and anything you do give will be very much appreciated!
Wish me luck!
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page,
Take care
Wendy
