Complete 200k in May and raise vital funds and awareness to help find a cure for all types of brain tumours.

Story

200k in May

It has now been over a year since we received the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Sammie had an inoperable brain tumour.

She has bravely endured 6 gruelling weeks of daily radiotherapy followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. At the end of her treatment the tumour was showing to be stable. Future scans will determine what the future holds.

However, this tumour has not shrunk, it will never shrink, and it will never go away.

So little is still known about brain tumours and in particular the slow growing low grade glioma which she has, and yet still only 1% of government funding for cancer research is apportioned to brain tumours even though they kill more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer.

Charitable funding is vital to keep current projects moving forward, so this May I am undertaking the 200k in May challenge. Basically this means, taking into account my daily count from my fitbit, I need to achieve a minimum average of approx 7K per day and I will be doing extra walking and cycling to reach this target.

If you are able, please consider sponsoring me for this challenge.

.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this.

They are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
