Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. (It’ll only take about 3 minutes to donate, but your time and money will help change 36 young cornish whole lifetimes! Thanks!)

**During the walk i will post  DAILY UPDATES on how i am doing at the BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.** please read on...

This Easter holidays I am attempting to walk 227 miles along the South West Coastal Path. I will be walking from Brownsea Island near Poole, back to Torpoint in Cornwall.

There are 36 scouts from all over Cornwall who have been selected for a life changing adventure next year. It’s in Sweden with 40'000 other scouts from all over the world - The World Scout Jamboree. However to get there they need to raise £80'000! I am trying to inspire these young people that ALL dreams are possible with hard work, please help me prove that point by donating today! For more information on the jamboree, or to become a main sponsor please visit www.wsjkernow.com or contact info@wsjkernow.com

During this walk I will be living on a Cornish diet (only PASTIES for my main meals – breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks). I will be sleeping in the tent I will be carrying and enjoying whatever weather the god's decide is fit for me. My only 2 luxuries are the fantastic views and knowing I am helping these scouts have a memory they will never forget, and always be grateful for.

Please show your support for the Cornish youth of today.

MANY, MANY THANKS

Wez Swain (Torpoint Scout Leader)

**NEWS**                     !! COME AND JOIN ME !!

I have made my itinerary for the walk and as long as all goes to plan I would like to invite everyone to meet me at Cremyll (in front of the gates of Mt Edgcumbe). The plan is to arrive at Cremyll (via the ferry) at approximately noon on Monday 12 April. I would like as many people who fancy a challenge to walk the final 7 miles back to Torpoint scout hut with me. All are welcome and the more the merrier, so please come and enjoy the final part of this adventure with me!

If anything changes with dates or times I will write it on this page by the evening of Sunday 11 April.

Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks again, on behalf of the 36 scouts and 4 leaders going to the next World Scout Jamboree,

Wez Swain.

WEZ WALK, The Brief diary.

thursday 1st april 2329

I’ve finally finished packing. I’m very anxious about the next 10 days but also ridiculously excited. It seems the forecast is pretty much April showers which is good. I can’t believe how many people have passed on amazing messages of support and contributed towards such a good local cause.

As long as battery allows this page will be updated each evening, so you can follow how I Am getting on and where I am each evening.

Again, many thanks for everyone’s support, I look forward to hopefully meeting you all on a week Monday; whether it be for the walk back, the pint and pasty at maker, or the cream teas at Torpoint!

Happy Easter

Wez.

Day  0ne

Worst day yet!

Just spoke to Wez he is very wet, he is in good spirits but soaked to the skin. He has made good progress despite some quite waterlogged paths. He has reached a place called Kimmeridge not as far as he wanted to get but he is happy considering the conditions. He has pitched his tent inside a toilet block yes inside and was just about to tuck into pasty number 3.

Further updates later on this weekend

Day 2

Walked 34 miles today, weather has been fantastic but this part of the world has a severe lack of pasty’s. But the good weather and the paths being a lot drier has really kept my spirits up. Tonight spending the night on Portland, after visiting one of the local hostelry’s The Cove Inn.

Day 3

Strange night last night when I got back to the car park to pitch my tent got some really weird looks from the locals. Late start this morning after my alarm didn’t go off.  Walking that first 2 miles back off the island was a bit disheartening but my spirits were  soon lifted when I reached Abbotsbury found the best little bakery and the owners were so helpful ‘take your bag off son, would you like a glass of water. Vegetarian pasty’s yes of course 3 different kinds’ but was soon brought back down to earth when the next section of costal path was like walking through cement. Boots and gaiters were essential. Staying the night at Seatown. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Day 4
Made it to Maidencombe today after around 25 mile. Hard going as legs are really starting to ache. But the path was reasonably flat so not as bad as could have been. Weather has been great again so able to make the most of the stunning views. but the bloody ferries having to wait around for them is not just a problem that us Torpointers have to face 40mins at Exmouth then the ferry at Teighnmouth was broken so had to walk a further 2 miles round. Still having fun thou!!

Day 5
Made it to Kingsweir this evening so enjoying a pint of apples in a local hostelry. Knees really sore still but meeting the family tomorrow at Torcross hoping Mum will treat me to lunch  i know it will be yet another pasty but l will savor it even more if i am not having to pay for it! Tomorrow was supposed to be a rest day but will still need to do between 15-20 miles to make the next few days a little easier.

Day 6
Not to much to report today made it to Torcross and had a rest and a bite to to eat with Mum my sister and my nIece, really nice to see some familiar faces after 5 days spending most of the time in my own company. still have walked 15 miles today despite it being my rest day my thighs are really starting to hurt but knees and feet are holding up quite well. spending the night i the car park near Startpoint lighthouse.

Day 7
Wez didnt have a good signal tonight but was just crossing the river Erme so again good progress

Day 8
Made it to Mount Batton for around 6 o'clock tonight but body telling me that its knackard, my arches on my feet are bruised, my knees are absolutely shot. Only the home stretch left, a short hop through Plymouth town tomorrow, all set for the 12 0'clock crossing to Plymouth. look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.

Day 9
what a great day. it took me until 1130 to walk to the cremyll ferry. on crossing the ferry i was met with a great reception, and officially welcomed back to cornwall by they mayor of torpoint. the pint and pasty at maker was highly successful and the last 5 miles was enjoyed with many friends. on finally arriving back to torpoint scout hut 227 miles later, there was another 30 people or so there welcoming me home.

many thanks for everyone for making the end of this challenge so enjoyable and a big thanks to all who have donated and supported me during this massive challenge, i believe there is no possible way i could have walked any further in 10 days, it was my absolute limit, (and doesn't my body know this!)

its not to late to donate, if you haven't yet. to follow more adventures of the cornish scouts going to the jamboree please visit, www.wsjkernow.com

thanks again,

Wez x
