Andy and Denise are soon to take a Coast to Coast walk across , following in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright. For those unfamiliar with the walk, it is 192 miles long and traverses three national parks in the north of : the , The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. We both love walking and have wanted to do this walk for some time. We are making our journey in 16 walking days so that we can enjoy the scenery; staying in b & b's, pubs and youth hostels. We're definitely not going to break any land speed records! We've been busy honing our navigation skills and have been improving our walking stamina with some recent hillwalking.

To see what we've been up to, check out the Whitefriars Wanderings blog , or check out the dated blogspot links below. Thank you to all those who have supported us.

1 in 4 people will experience some kind mental health problems during their lifetime to a greater or lesser degree of severity. It can be a real blight for sufferers and carers; wrecking careers, thwarting ambitions, relationships and the ability to function 'normally' within society either temporarily or permanently. The chances are that the lucky 75% will know someone that has or has had difficulties, yet mental illness still has stigma attached to it... a taboo subject... not to be talked about. Fortunately, high profile people like the cricketer Marcus Trescothick have bravely written about their experiences battling their difficulties, bringing mental health issues to public attention.

Andy and Denise would like to be able to help raise money for MIND   Click on the link to find out what the MIND charity is about. The nearest local Mind drop in centre to us is in Bourne. They offer a sympathetic ear, practical support, friendship, outings, events, support in the community for independent living and hot meals for those that would like them. No appointment is needed; help is at hand five days a week for sufferers and carers.

'Exercise lifts the spirits and boosts energy, helping to keep the mind healthy.'

Walking definitely has therapeutic benefits, so walking to raise money for Mind is a natural choice. Please help us to make the quality of life of others better. The following is how your donation could help:

£7.50 could pay for specially trained MindinfoLine staff to answer one enquiry from someone needing support and information.

£15 could help to produce and update our award-winning information resources on topics including self harm, anxiety and post-natal depression.

£20 could help to support a local Mind association befriending scheme for those experiencing mental distress who cannot easily leave their homes.

£50 could help support a local Mind association provide training programmes and work experience for people recovering from mental illness.
