Story

Mission accomplished.

All three peaks have been scaled, aided by numerous energy gels, drinks, copious amounts of deep heat and more than a few ibuprofen. The times achieved were between 22hours 52 mins for the more young athletic types and 23hours 27mins for the older but no less able team members.

In light of our massive undertaking, please continue to give generously to help us achieve our fund raising target and support Birningham Childrens Hospital.

Money raised will be divided between Ward 10, Neurosurgery and Ward 15, Oncology, inspired by two very brave children, Jude and Sam.

Jude

Julien was diagnosed 3 years ago with a Pilocytic Astrocytoma.

After numerous surgical procedures and chemotherapy protocols his tumor is advancing and remains unstable. Despite this Jude remains strong and happy (and very brave).

However we are in no doubt that it is thanks to the dedication, care and professionalism of the Neurosurgical and Oncology teams of Birmingham Childrens Hospital, in particular Ward 10, that he is with us today.

Ward 10 is a home from home for Julien and he loves 'living' in hospital.

Sam

Samuel Spear was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma in may 2010, just after his third birthday.

He has been through many procedures at Birmingham Childrens Hospital on different wards and departments, including a major surgical procedure to remove the primary tumor in his abdomen, however the majority of treatment (chemotherapy, stem cell harvest and antibody treatment) was recieved under the expert care of doctors and nurses on ward 15.

Thankfully Sam is now in full remission and doing well, enjoying school and getting into mischief.

Although we can never do enough, we hope our fund raising efforts go some way in showing our appreciation and gratitude.

So please give generously and if not inspired by our suffering, lack of sleep, blisters and other hardships then please think of the brave children at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital.
