All about me

If you know me you know that I'm a pretty big chap to say the least. Saying I'm "fat" is being generous and it would have been fair to say that "morbidly obese" was still an understatement. Not any more.

December 2011 Kate told me she was starting a SlimmingWorld diet and that I was going to do it with her. I weighed myself and found I was a massive 22 Stone.

I decided there and then it was time to get my act together and was going to get down to 15 stone. A good friend pointed out that seven stone is two pounds short of 100 pounds. So my target weight loss became 100 pounds.

I cut down on all the naughty food and started walking more, lots more. I had the idea that by summer 2012 I would do a half marathon and in summer 2013 I would enter a marathon.

I came across the Cheltenham Circular Challenge in March 2012 and somewhat foolishly decided I would go for a full marathon.

By Saturday 28th April not only have I completed my first half marathon but I have also lost 50 pounds.

All about my chosen charity

Megan Baker House is a charity providing Education Services for children, teenagers and adults with motor disabilities such as cerebral palsy, head injury, stroke, dyspraxia and early on-set Parkinson's disease.

Through an system known as ‘Conductive Education’, they offers life-changing outcomes for children and adults suffering from motor disorders such as Cerebral Palsy and Parkinson’s Disease. Conductive Education is based on the premise that a person that has a motor disorder not only has a medical condition requiring treatment, but very importantly, a problem in learning that requires education.

I have a personal connection with Megan Baker House as one of my friends has a son who regularly goes there. The difference they make to Toby and his parents is very clear.

So please dig deep and donate now.
