I am writing to you today to inform you of a charity fundraising motorcycle tour the WildCubs Motorcycle Club is undertaking in July 2010,
We are raising money for the Brittle Bone Society for research into Foetal Osteogenesis Imperfecta (a rare bone disorder, and in some cases fatal), which can occur during early pregnancy. Sadly my wife and I have become all too familiar with this condition in the last 12 months, in truth we have lost 2 children to it. There are precious little funds towards research into this disorder, which we hope to go some ways towards amending. I hope this does not come across as a sob story nor a tug at the heartstrings, I just wish to give a bit of background information as to why I’m passionate about this event. I will state now the proposed trip is entirely self-funded; the proceeds from any and all contributions and sponsorship will go directly to the Brittle Bone Society.
And now the plan: In July 2010, my stepfather, brother, uncle and myself are planning to ride four customised Honda C90 Cubs (commuter mopeds each 20+ years old) approximately 900 miles around the top half of Scotland. We are starting off in and finishing up (hopefully) in where the Brittle Bone Society is based. The idea started as a laugh (and also in a bottle of whisky) but then we hit upon the idea of doing it for charity. From there it got (slightly) more serious and the Wild Cubs Motorcycle Club was born (current membership 4).
I hope you can help, if not though, may i thank you for reading this far, as if nothing else we are promoting awareness of the condition too.
Andrew (1st Lieutenant and Master at Arms WildCubs MCC) x
