On Friday 19^th November the Wildcats Community Team have set themselves  a challenge of raising £500 for Children In Need as they walk around the City of Wakefield with their Mascot Daddy Cool.  They will be asking the generous people of to donate £1 to have their picture taken with Daddy Cool as he dresses up in aid of the charity which made its first appeal for help back in 1927.

BBC Children in Need is the BBC's corporate charity. The annual telethon is one of the highs of the BBC calendar and plenty of activity takes place all across the around this time to help raise those crucial pennies to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the . However, Pudsey is busy all year round helping to make sure the money you raise goes to those who need it the most. In July 2010, Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust was awarded a grant for £100,000 by Children in Need for a project entitled Give it a TRY, Aim High.

The team and Daddy Cool will begin their walk from Outwood, and will be hopping on and off buses to visit other areas of the city as they make their way back to Daddy Cools home at Belle Vue Stadium.  They hope to cover a lot of miles as they will be starting at 8:30am and continuing until dark.

 Projects Manager said “ We hope that all local businesses won’t mind us nipping in for a couple of minutes on the 19^th November so that they can join in the effort and donate whatever they can to have their picture taken with everyones favourite mascot Daddy Cool. 

Community Trust Manager Davide Longo said “The funding we have received from Chidren In Need really is going to help a lot of children in our area, and we hope that we can raise as much money as possible on Friday 19^th so we can give something back a charity which does do some outstanding work”
