Hello everyone,
I have been given the privelage to run the 2010 London Marathon for a great small charity called BUILD AFRICA. (please click on the Build Africa logo to read more).
My connection with Build Africa
Last summer I got the chance to do some voluntary work for Build Africa in the UK and Uganda. Both were eye opening experiences for me. To see how much work goes into the running of a charity and the dedication of the staff working at Build Africa was amazing. It takes alot of work to get people to donate to a cause that you feel so strongly about.
Working in Uganda showed me just some of the hardships that people have to go through everyday and the impact that just a small amount of money can have. I can promise you that I wouldnt be putting myself though all the hours of training if I didnt feel that all the money raised will have a massive impact.
Training!
On 5th Decemeber I took part in the 'Grim challenge' which is an 8 mile wade and crawl through a muddy crosscountry track (see the picture above!). Myself and two friends from Build Africa ran as a team. We made it round the course in around 1hour 32 minutes, I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to get muddy!!
I will of course be training every week up until the marathon, and will keep you all updated on how it goes.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you,
Will Barsley
