In honour and remembrance of William Burns his family organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for the St Leonards Hospice, a wonderful charity that provide an invaluable service to the people whose lives they touch.
The walk took place on the 14th May 2011 in Langdale, an area of the Lake District that was very special to William and one that will forever be entwined with his memory. The 13.2km route started at Huntingstile Crag before taking its participants towards Stickle Tarn, across The Great Langdale Valley and along the top of Lingmoor Fell, a challenge which was embraced and successfully completed by a number of William’s family and friends.
The event was deemed a wonderful success by all those who took part, with everyone thoroughly enjoying the walk despite some tired legs and aching joints towards the end! A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the event in person and in spirit, the donations received so far is very much appreciated by everyone involved, especially the Burn’s family. We are still collecting in the pledges and tallying up the final figure. So if you still wish to donate it’s not too late!
So watch this space for the final total and pictures of the event, and a big thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
