http://williamgaudie.myblogsite.com is the website that the daily diary is gradually being updated on, up to day 4 so far - please feel free to have a read and comments welcome!.... We've had a fantastic time and his achievement has blown everyone away....photos to follow too.
William, aged 17, has had Cerebral Palsy since birth. As William grew older his mobility decreased. Two years ago he underwent major hip reconstruction surgery which resulted in him being unable to stand or walk for six months.
During this time we were all frustrated by the length of time it took to get William an electric wheelchair. William has been determined to get back on his feet and now aims to raise funds to help children in similar situations get their equipment more quickly.
William is planning on cycling the coast to coast, a gruelling 137 miles over the Pennines, to raise funds for Whizz kids, a national charity which provides customised mobility equipment for young people. He will start on Monday 24 October in Whitehaven, and finish on Friday 28 October in Sunderland.
