Members of 32 Regiment Royal Artillery based in Larkhill, Wiltshire are taking time out of their busy Regimental schedule to try and raise £8000 for charity.   The regiment has been based in the Wiltshire area for the past 15 years and are an Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) regiment. We have had a battery permanently based in Afghanistan/Iraq since the beginning of the conflicts in 2003.  The Regiment has a good policy on charitable work and so far this year has raised £32000.   The money raised from this event will be split between the charities British Ex-Services Wheelchair Sports Association (BEWSA) and the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF).

BEWSA was formed in September 1987 after a small group of Disabled Wheelchair Ex-Service men and women were given an invitation to fly to America to participate in the annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games; the largest wheelchair games in the world. The aim of the charity is to promote welfare and rehabilitation of disabled ex-service men and women through the participation of sport and sports medicine.  As important, for 65 years the Army Benevolent Fund the Soldiers' Charity has worked tirelessly to provide support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need. They work in partnership with Regimental and Corps Benevolent Funds and in co-operation with other Service charities. They identify and investigate eligible cases in "real need", and provide them with financial support.

It is planned that 2 teams of 5 soldiers from 32 Regiment Royal Artillery will complete a gruelling 170 mile tab/march around the eastern and western sides of Wiltshire, each team completing approximately 85 miles. The 2 teams will be setting off from Salisbury market square on 19 January 2010 and arriving on 23 January 2010 in Swindon Parade shopping centre where they will be promoting the charities and 32 Regiment Royal Artillery.

Any donations will be much appreciated and if you are free on the 19 January or the 23 January to show support it would be much appreciated.
