Story
The Lotus Flower Trust (LFT) has been asked to fund a new home and Monastery for fifty nuns aged from 5 – 26 years old in Basgo village, Ladakh.
The existing Nunnery houses up to nine nuns, but with a large number of homeless girls and overstretched local families, there is a demand to increase the number of beds up to forty. On completion, the nunnery will become the centre for teaching Tibetan Buddhism to the women of Ladakh.
In August 2012, thirty one Wykehamists arrived at the Basgo nunnery to start the building phase. The trip was a huge success. The team was able to move the build phase of the project forward by several months by helping the nuns and local builders on the site.
In August 2013, a further twenty one men from Winchester will travel to Ladakh to assist with the final phase of the project. In order to complete the construction of the nunnery we must raise £35,000 which will go directly to the LFT.
