Dave Tierney, members of his family and friends are doing a sponsored walk in aid of the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre - which is the Provincial Grand Primo 2010 Outside Charity.

The team gather together on Thursday, 29th July at the Travelodge in Torquay - the start is on Friday the 30th from Torquay Harbour, walking along the coastal path to Lyme Regis, arriving on Monday the 2nd August after several nights camping at a number of camping sites along the route and a total distance of 48.9 miles.

30th June - 4 weeks to go.

Preparations are almost complete - t-shirts are being printed, overnight stops have been checked and the route for the support vehicle has been plotted and driven - the countdown has begun.

If you're in the area look out for us and cheer us on.

Sorry - if you missed the start of the walk, not only that but we've been unable to kick things off with an update of the start of the walk.

READ ON FOR AN UPDATE OF WHAT WE'RE DOING.

Tonight is Saturday 31st  and we're halfway through the walk, when they say it's the coastal path - they mean it; most of the time we're fighting to keep on the cliff edge, the rest of the time we're dodging the tide - it's been great up to now, a few blisters and a lot of aching muscles.

Sunday, 1st August

Halfway through - where do we go from here - onwards and forwards ( I hope not upwards - there's been a lot of that just lately); it's been great - well worthwhile, especially the support from those along the way - God bless those who've donated.

Next update will be on the last night - Monday, 2nd  August - the walk will be over and we can tell you our own stories.

Thursday, 4th August - the best laid plans, etc - a broken keyboard meant no update until today.

The walk finished as planned on Monday, Sundays leg was the hardest with some monster ascents and descents between Sidmouth and Branscombe - the South West Coastal Path web-site did warn that Seaton to Sidmouth was graded as severe to strenuous!!! How right they were.

On Monday we got the glad news that Seaton to Lyme Regis was mostly a wooded track that once you got in there was no way out - you had to get to the end and it would take 3 to 4 hours - what a team - they completed it in two and a half hours.

Arriving at Lyme Regis at 3 o'clock.

A well earned cream tea at 'Lagigis' cafe and restaurant was the spur; a big thank you to Gina for the discount as a reward to the walkers for their endeavours - if any of you reading this enjoy cream teas then next time you're in Lyme Regis go to 'Lagigis' it's well worth a visit.

The walkers departed Lyme Regis for home at 4 o'clock - 3 of them to return to work on Tuesday - what an effort.

Dave and Jean returned to Budleigh Salterton for a final day at the campsite before returning home on Wednesday and the walk was over.

I can't close without a special thanks to the water-taxi driver at Exmouth who donated a river crossing for the team and to Geoff at Branscombe Airfield who picked the team up in the village and ferried them up the hill to the campsite on Sunday night. Thanks guys.
