Story
As the bitterly cold nights of winter approach, although this appeal is open for donations all year round it is time to highlight the need for warm clothing and blankets. It is by no means unusual for the temperature to drop to very near zero degrees during the January nights, and it is bitter damp cold. Imagine what it must like for an undernourished and scantily clad child in such conditions, trying to keep warm in whatever way they can.
Due to your generosity, every year the Trust distributes hundreds of blankets in a careful and controlled way to families and children who really need them, and our medical team working with our Village Health Team are in no doubt whatsoever that children’s lives have been saved by the means of a simple woolly hat and warm blanket. A warm woollen double Blanket costs about 300 rupees or about £ 4.00 or $ 6.00. A sweater about 250 rupees. All the money donated to this appeal goes directly to the point of need.
Puja is typical of many children living in Gaya Station, the platforms are her home, but she regularly attends our centre near the station for food shelter and care. This appeal also tries to ensure the very poorest children who attend our village schools get the warm clothing or blankets they so desperately need.
