Far too many of us know someone who has had breast cancer, and that’s why 25 ladies from the Winterslow area have come together to raise money for the Stars Appeal in support of the specialist breast care unit at Salisbury Hospital. Every week in the Salisbury area alone, FOUR women are diagnosed with breast cancer.
All donations, however small, will be gratefully received. We smashed our original target of £5,000 within 5 weeks of the launch of our calendar - we now have a new target of £15,000 which will buy a much needed breast biopsy machine. As you can see, we only have to find another £2,000 - please help us reach that as soon as we can. We can only raise so much by selling cherry-topped cup cakes!!!
Our group of ladies (two of whom are breast cancer survivors) were prepared to also step way outside of their comfort zone and pose ‘calendar girls style’ for a 2012 calendar. But as this is a very local charity, we want to take the opportunity to involve local businesses and attractions in Salisbury to create a calendar that demonstrates the heart and soul of our fabulous city.
Our locations for the calendar include Wilton House, the four poster bed at the Red Lion Hotel, Salisbury Rugby Club, Heale House Gardens, The Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel with the Cathedral spire and the watermeadows in the background, Fisherton Mill, Salisbury Racecourse and Roche Court.
