Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am 40 years old and I have lost my nerve. I have not grown up around horses, I have never competed, I have never been taught how to jump. I am a happy hacker who has the privilege of working with horses and vulnerable young people. The thought of competing in any ODE is terrifying. A BE80 is utter madness. My hands are sweating as I type this.  In September 2014 I took on a new horse. In December of that year I broke my hand very badly and was unable to ride for nearly 6 months. So on getting back into the saddle, I found I was frightened on a horse I hadn't known very long and that hadn't been off the yard for some time. As the injury healed and my hand recovered I did not have the same movement and strength in it, therefore felt out of control. My confidence crashed and that worm of fear wiggled in. The current state of play is that I am not leaving the yard, I am only getting on in the round pen to walk, trot and canter....so thinking of entering any event really is pure madness!

But I have come across so many brave young people, and hearing Hannah's story and seeing this challenge has given me the boost I need to start being as brave as Hannah, and all the others. Willberry Wonder Pony is a fantastic charity raising money for a very deserving cause.

About the charity
