Corrieyairack Challenge 2013 · 6 July 2013 ·

Speyside Trust based at Badaguish Cairngorm Outdoor Centre is a small independent charity helping children and adults with special needs, learning or multiple disability enjoy 24-hour respite care and outdoor holidays in the Cairngorms National Park.

Story

We are not young men..

Herbie (2 timer) and Craig (5timer) have done this before and been roundly beaten by our third team mate.

A fiendish plan was hatched to right this clear wrong doing but already this appears to be rapidly unravelling.

Fiona is down at Inners right now doing some x-country frivolity whilst I set this site up. Mix in a barrow full of youth and I think it's fair to say H and I are in for a pasting again.

that's not the point! .. We are doing this to raise money for a charity that gets disabled kids and adults out and about in the places the XTR SOULS love, the great Scottish Highlands.

In return for your most generous donation we'll be doing the Corrieyairack challenge. A 52 mille Mountain Bike race, 10 miles of climbing up to over 2500 feet on the historic corrieyairack pass (boulder strewn nightmare) and then 4 miles down again, (mostly in the first 100yds on those famous ZigZags) all off road (boulder strewn nightmare with some worse bits), then a gentler undulating 38 miles on the road to finish the event. Starts at Fort Augustus and goes over the top to finish at the \charity's Badaguish Centre , Nr Aviemore.

Since the inaugural Corrieyairack Challenge in 1993 over £700,000 has been raised by competitors like us to help fund the running of the respite care centre facilities, based at Badaguish, and purchasing specialist equipment – ranging from specially adapted minibuses, side by side bikes and other specialist sports and activity equipment.

Every £200 raised enables a person with disabilities to enjoy a unique outdoor holiday experience. The Charity  relies totally on the generosity of those who believe in what we are seeking to do by encouraging us, working with us and giving us financial support. If you would like further information on what the charity does please visit www.badguish.org
