Story

April 2012 will see “Team Xerxes” trek 100km across the Sahara Desert to raise vital funds for Barnardo’s. We are embracing the sand, sweat and scorpians in order to raise some life changing money for this great charity!

This is your opportunity to help us achieve something incredible... your donations will make all the hot days of walking in 50 degree heat, blisters and cold nights all worth while.

Each team member must raise £2,550; a grand team total of £12,750.

Xerses...some serious dude back in Persia is a fitting team name as our team attempt to become 'some serious dudes in the Sahara' the team consists of John White, Andrew BIggs, Joseph MacDonnell, Thibaut Minguet and one very scared member Rebecca Matthews (Me!)

We intend to trek for 8-10hrs each day through a forbidding Saharan landscape situated south of the Atlas and Dades Gorge, punctuated by 350 million year old fossil fields, packed Salt pans and towering Dunes.

For more information about our gruelling itinerary click here.

What Barnardo's does:

Barnardo's believes in children regardless of their circumstances, gender, race, disability or behaviour.

Whatever the issue, from drug misuse to disability; youth crime to mental health; sexual abuse to domestic violence; poverty to homelessness; Barnardo's believes we can bring out the best in every child. We run almost 400 local projects around the UK, working directly with over 100,000 children, young people and their famillies every year.

So please dig deep and donate now so we can really make a difference...

Thank you from us all in advance,

Rebecca, John, Joseph, Thibaut and Andrew

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
