Lumino to Lumino Challenge · 4 September 2015 to 12 September 2015 ·

The GravityLight Foundation tackles poverty and protects the environment through innovative product design. Over 1.3 billion people don't have access to electricity; they rely on dangerous, expensive & polluting kerosene lamps for light. We design safe, affordable & reliable alternatives.

Story

In September we will embark on a long journey over the course of 9 days, starting from Lumino, Harlow, England and finishing in Lumino, Switzerland.

The journey is a tough one with 1200KM / 745 miles to pedal with elevation of 8.8KM / 5.46 miles to go up, which close to the height of Everest.

We are hoping to raise a good sum of money for great charity GravityLight, where they provide self sustainable powered light in impoverished zones to replace Kerosene lamps, which cause fires, damages lungs & burns large proportion of income, GravityLight can change that for people who need light most.

Take yourself back to when you studied late hours into the night and light has been always there, we hardly notice light until it is gone. When there is an electricity black out we cant do anything in our homes with out light, now imagine that we have to use kerosine in our home and any spill could result in a house fire, not to mention the health risk that home filled with smoke and fumes brings.

So Please Please Please give his charity a helping hand and i hope our cycling event will help to bring awareness to this cause, and here is a blurb -> donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
