Thanks for visiting my page - Please take a few minutes to see what has caused me to take leave of my senses: I'm doing the London Marathon  in April 2010, and  raising money for University College London (UCL) Cancer Institute Research Trust. I'm doing this In memory of my Nilesh Masi.

About Nilesh Masi/ Auntie: She was an exceptional women, a wife,  amazing mum, sister, and personally for me a great masi. She was always kind, and caring, and could spare time for anyone who needed her help. Mostly she was the life and soul at any party, or get together, and she loved a good party. She was always encouraging her daughter, and her nieces and nephews to strive for what they want, and was always there to listen and give advice, you could say more like a big sister than a masi. And when any of us would  achive those goals, she always so proud (sometimes more than our own parents).

She lost her fight against rare Haematological Cancer,  Myelofibrosis, over 5 years ago.  She was treated at UCLH/UCL, for her disease. Durring her fight, I remember once going in to visit her at UCH, and several members of staff who I had never met before, saying you must be her niece who works in cancer research. Even when she was fighting her illness, she was thinking of others, and in that case of me, and how if doctors knew who I was and where I worked it would help my career.

About UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust: The Cancer Institute focuses on particularly difficult-to-treat cancers and cancer types where UCL-affiliated hospitals have special clinical expertise. These include: paediatric and teenage cancers; sarcoma; head and neck cancer; neuroendocrine tumours; brain cancer; haematological malignancies including leukaemia and lymphoma. The aim is to recruit new research groups studying the biology and genetic basis of these cancers, and ultimately developing novel therapies.

About Me: When someone close to you contracts something awful like Myelofibrosis,  it really hits home. For me I want to do something useful and constructive, in my masi’s memory, and for all those people who with the research and development of new therapies, won’t have to remember the good times, but will still be enjoying them.

I intend to do my hardest to get up in the morning and train, and I will make it round the 26.3 miles of the marathon. So now you know what this is all about I make no apology in asking you to please donate generously and more than you would do normally so that together with everyone's help we can help others beat Cancer. All you money will go directly to UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust if you donate on this site - plus if you are a tax payer both you and UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust  benefit so don’t forget those details when prompted by the website. Look out for my regular updates on progress. In the mean time I would like to say a huge THANK YOU for your support. It is really appreciated.
