Story

LONDON TO LAND'S END - May 30th 2010

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm cycling from London to Land's End for Cancer Research UK in support of friends who have been, are being and may be afflicted by cancer. I leave on May 30th and have been challenged to do it in 4 days or less. If I achieve this and raise over £ 5k my challenger will double whatever I raise. (sadly no he won't it turns out - see below)

MADE IT !!! I arrived at Land's End at 07.59am on 3rd June some 2 hours within my 96 hour challenge having left London on the 30th May at around 09.45am. I've now raised over £5k but my challenger forgot to register the challenge with the City fund that was to double it. Still, on the positive side the challenge did motivate me to do it in less than 4 days and raise over £5k which is a tidy sum to go towards saving more lives so I am happy with my effort if a little (loads actually) disappointed with my challenger. Now waiting to see a consultant to deal with my mashed up left knee !!!

My route took in Southampton, Bournemouth, Exeter, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Plymouth, Bodmin, Penzance then on to Land's End.

Especial thanks to Fathers Aemilianos Papadakis, Peter Scorer, Gregorios Carpenter and Nikitas Lantsbery as well as Deputy Chief Constable Sawyer, Chief Inspector Sue Scott (also of Pentrea Hotel, Penzance) and Officer Nigel Jane of Devon & Cornwall Police for all their support and back up en route; The Bike Shed, Exeter and Braking Wind, Dawlish; the Christian cyclist with his words of encouragement at the bottom of a particularly fearsome hill, the Hog's Back Cafe- Farnham, the Botany Bay Inne - Dorset, Delights Diner - Saltash, the Victoria Inn - Roche, the New Continental Hotel and the Seafood & Pasta Bar - Plymouth and all the other wonderful kind and generous people I met en route who have helped to restore my faith in humanity.

I'd also like to thank Evans Cycles for the bike (which I am going to auction off for Cancer Research when I complete the ride), Fullers Brewery for brewing London Pride so well and for their support , ORANGE for the Blackberry Bold with GPS and maps, Hammerton Ferries, Mid Cornwall Brokers, BORIS at GYMBODZ for the training sessions and advice, the Norbiton Charcoal Grill, Radio Jackie, London Greek Radio, Oli Mazi, The Cyprus High Commissionthe London School of Diving, my family & friends and The Greek Orthodox Churches of Kingston upon Thames, Plymouth and Falmouth as well as all at The Wych Elm, The Willoughby Arms, The Queen's Head & The Oak - Kingston , The Crown - Twickenham, The Naked Turtle - Sheen and The Wimbledon Village Club,  not to mention everyone else who is supporting me.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please help in whatever way you can.

Many thanks,

Yianni
