Story

This year I've decided that I want something rare, exotic and luxurious for my birthday.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend...but what this girl really wants is a tiger.

What could be more rare, exotic and luxurious than a tiger?

Those of you who watched Lost Land of the Tiger on BBC would be aware of the Tiger Corridor Initiative.

This is what I would like for my birthday.

Wild tigers. Free tigers. Happy tigers.

There are only 2,000 wild tigers left in the world today. Humans are directly responsible for the 95% decrease of big cats in the wild.

Panthera is a non-profit organisation where 100% of donations will be spent directly in the field supporting research, conservation and education in insuring a future for big cats.

So no need for wine, cards, cake or gifts this year...

Knowing that through those closest to me, I managed to increase awareness and support for not just the tigers themselves, but the whole ecosystem they live in, would make me happier than any material object ever could.

No matter how big of small, thank you for being part of my most consequential and meaningful birthday present ever.
