Story

Firstly….for those of you that may have checked this page previously for an update – apologies for the delay.  Happily, we can report that all 4 of the Acumus teams completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 20th June.  What’s more all 4 teams completed the walk in under 12 hours.  This is the ‘recommended time and apparently you have to achieve it to successfully complete the ‘Challenge’.  To be honest most of us were anticipating something closer to 13 hours!

Having travelled up on the Friday afternoon and endured the misery of the England v Algeria match we were all in bed early on the Friday on readiness of the early start the next morning.  We were blessed on the Saturday with pretty ideal conditions – cool and dry weather.  After wandering around for half an hour trying to find the start (yep – everyone was very happy about that!!) we started out at around 7.30am and joined about 500 (yes, seriously!) other walkers on the fells.  Our initial fears over our map reading abilities were quickly forgotten!  Thankfully the weather stayed dry for the rest of the day and approximately 11 ½ hours after the start time some weary but very content insurance brokers staggered (literally!) over the finish line.  A cold beer has honestly never tasted so good!

We’d really like to thank each and every one of you who sponsored us.  Every penny really does count for Little Havens Childrens Hospice and we are delighted that as a team and a business we have been able to make a small difference.  We're still rounding up the pennies but overall we expect to be donating in excess of £5,000.

So…roll on next summer – we’re already planning the London to Brighton bike ride!
