Story
The Cause
RedR are a great international humanitarian organisation that supports aid organisations across the world by developing skills and providing expertise.
They target disaster-prone communities and ensure they are prepared by giving them practical life-saving skills, advice and support. This helps these communities prepare, respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters.
As a corporate partner to RedR, Atkins supports the charity through annual donations and events, such as the Graduate Charity Challenge where the new graduates organise and carryout various charitable events in teams.
Meet the Team
Our team is called the Yorkshire Yorkies and as the name suggests, we are based in the Leeds and Rotherham Atkins offices.
The team members are:
- Dan Rae - Graduate Mechanical Engineer - Energy
- Chloe Foulkes - Graduate Transport Planner - Transportation
- Jamie Russell - Graduate Mechanical Engineer, Energy
- Amy Fearnside - Graduate Transport Planner - Transportation
- Kurtis Gamble - Graduate Mechanical Engineer, Energy
- Martin Nolan - Graudate Mechanical Engineer, Energy
The Events
- The main event the team will be participating in is the Leeds MoRunning Event. The team will be tackling either a 5km or 10km race with only 5 weeks to prepare! This will obviously be a killer, so your donations will really spur us on! The race takes place on the 5th November 2016.
- For everyone in Rotherham, leave your soggy sandwiches at home on the 5th October 2016 as the guys have organised a lunch time BBQ!
- Both the Leeds and Rotherham offices will be channelling their inner bake-off with several bake sales. Look out for more information!
