Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page
I am off to Namibia to help with a community building project and complete a 3 day trek... it's all for a great charity.
All of my personal costs have been met so every penny you donate goes directly to Homeless International.
£100 can help a community in Namibia to make 300 concrete blocks to help build a house
£150 can help someone to set up a small school in a poor community in Pakistan
£200 can help to build a water kiosk in Tanzania, serving over 100 families
£1,645 could help a family in Zambia build a two-room house
The difficulties that have faced me in my life seem insignificant compared to the day to day struggle of living in Namibia.
I genuinely believe that by getting involved in this challenge, I can make a real difference.
REVISION OF TARGET
Thanks to the wonderful support and generosity of friends, family and colleagues, I have now reached the minimum sponsorship allowing me to participate in the challenge and help this amazing charity.
I genuinely didn’t think I would get there this quickly, and there are still numerous other events in the pipeline.
Please keep visiting my Just Giving or Facebook Pages for the latest events / updates.
In view of the above I have decided to raise my target to £5000 which will ensure that Homelesss International gets as much money as possible towards the excellent work that they do.
Thank you all for your continued support.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS / RAISING AWARENESS
Big Thanks to Scottish In-laws
For Easter we made a trip to Scotland where I accumulated a grand total of £70, thanks to Jack, Nancy, Gillian and Ian. I am very grateful to you all...and love you loads!
Cake Sale / Easter Egg Hunt / Collection Can
Once again my work colleagues at Adderbury and West Bromwich have pulled out the stops to raise a further £99.30. Special thanks to Christine and Hasan for organising these Easter events. Fair to say we are all now fat and happy!
Further Sponsorship
Today (18 Feb) I sent off a sponsorship form to Homeless International with another £45 towards my challenge. Thanks to all friends and colleagues at work who donated and especially to Morie in Motherwell for her letter of support and accompanying cheque.
West Bromwich Raffle
Today (25 Jan) staff at the West Brom Office raised a staggering £102 towards my Challenge. Special thanks to Hasan, Ellie, Reno and Kate for making this happen and to everyone who very kindly donated gifts and bought tickets. What a result!
Posh Coffee Morning
Thanks to my colleagues in the Customer Service Centre £65 was raised through the sale of cappucinos, lattes and mochas throughout the day on Monday 23rd Jan. What a treat to beat the Monday blues! Special thanks to Cathy Allard and Milena Stanislawska for all their hard work on the day.
Adderbury Raffle
Once again Graham Allaway has led on a fundraising initiative for my African Challenge, raising an incredible £272 on Friday 20th Jan, through the proceeds of a post christmas raffle. Unbelievable!
Big thanks to my friends at Cherwell District Council
Today (16 January) I was handed a sponsor form signed by 18 people at CDC, with an envelope containg £115. I cannot thank you all enough for your tremendous generosity.
Special Thanks
Behind the scenes I have received tremendous support from my family, not only in covering my substantial personal costs of this trip but also for putting up with my constant “Namibia Natter.” I would also like to acknowledge the off line donations received to date from my Lettings Team at West Bromwich. They have collected over £90 to date in support of my venture. YOU ARE ALL JUST AMAZING!
Dress Down Day at the Leicester Office
I couldn’t believe it when I received a phone call from Karan at our Leicester Office to say that they were doing a Dress Down Day on Friday 23 December, and that the proceeds would be going towards my challenge. Thank you to Karan, Imtiaz, Aman and all my friends and colleagues there for this wonderful show of support for me, and for Homeless International !
Namibian Nibbles and Jet Washing Cars
On Friday 23 December the Adderbury Office held two events in support of my challenge. Together these events raised over £100. My thanks to Christine and Avril for organising everything and a very special thank you to Mark, Graham and Keith who, despite the pouring rain, jet washed the cars.
Namibian Desk Top Challenge
On Thursday night, 15th December, my very good friend and colleague Graham Allaway organised a quiz to help raise money for my challenge. Everyone who came brought a prize for the raffle, to be held later in the year. A number of people had other commitments and couldn't make the event, but kindly donated a raffle prize anyway. Thanks to everyone who participated and / or donated, it was a great help. On the evening, the successful team was Norfolk and Chance (say it quickly!), who walked away with the Namibian Cup and a couple of bottles of champagne. Well done to Tracey and Paul, worthy winners indeed. See photos.
