Our aim is to help patients and staff by purchasing equipment, funding research and improving the hospital's environment. We've pledged to raise money to build a new Brachytherapy Treatment Unit. This will keep the Centre at the leading edge of world-class cancer and haematological treatments.

Story

Hiya my name is Zoe, I'm 37 years old and married with 2 young children, and on June 24th 2011 my life changed for ever I was told I had the big C, yep cancer it's funny I can say it now where as at the beginning it made me pause and want to vomit just to think of saying it.

Anyway I am on my cancer journey now and have had a bit of a bumpy road surgery was tough and that first time looking in the mirror and seeing my chest, or the severe lack of it, will stay with me forever along with the single tear that escaped and rolled down the nurses cheek as she stood with me for that moment. Chemotherapy was a whole new ball game and to be honest chemo can probably claim to of won the battles but I will win this war! I was hospitalised four times during chemotherapy with Neautropenia Sepsis and during these times was probably when I was at my lowest so far and at times I could of quite happily rolled over and given up if not for the support of great family, friends and hospital staff who are all absolutely amazing.

It was during one of these stays in hospital that I decided once my more active treatments were done I would have a party" An Evening of Celebration & Fundraising" to thank everybody and also to kickstart my fundraising I want to pay back my dues and some, so hope to raise as much money for the causes who have helped me on my way as possible.

I have just finished Radiotherapy which involves daily trips up to Bristol for a quick blast then back home again the experience is no where near as bad as chemo, but the travelling and daily regime is exhausting and the area is very sore. It transpires that the Friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology are in the midst of an appeal to raise funds for a new Linear machine which will replace the machine that I've been using so seems right for them to be one of my charities. x

My causes are:

Breast Cancer Care - reg. charity no. 1017658

Chemotherapy : Oncology Unit, Weston General Hospital - reg. charity no. 1057589

Radiotherapy : Friends of Bristol Haemotology & Oncology Centre - reg.charity no. 264136

(It transpires that the Friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology are in the midst of an appeal to raise funds for a new Linear machine which will replace the machine that I'm currently using so it seems even more right for them to be one of my charities. x)

It would be amazing if you would help me so thank you for visiting my fundraising pages and please if you can dig deep and donate now.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
