The Health Tree Foundation Charity works in partnership with the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and it’s aim is to ensure that each and every time someone walks through the hospital doors, whether for emergency or planned treatment, that the best available equipment is waiting for them. As one of the Clinical Sister’s in the ICU at Scunthorpe General Hospital, this is evident every single day at work. Our patients and their loved ones rely on, and deserve, the very best, and so when the opportunity became available to raise money for the ICU in which I’ve worked for the last 20 years I found it difficult to say no.

Along with working at the hospital, I have personal reasons for wanting to raise money for The Health Tree Foundation. All 3 of my children were born there and I cannot fault the care we received. My eldest child has complex needs and I never could have envisaged how heavily we would come to rely on the NHS for her health needs. Her needs will continue through adulthood and I want to ensure that she will have access to the best equipment and resources.

So, to celebrate working in the ICU for 20 years, along with some NHS colleagues, I’ll be taking part in a 15,000ft Tandem Skydive on Sunday 9th August. It was sold to me as an ‘exhilarating and adrenaline boosting’ challenge so I’ll hold onto that thought through the nerves!

Thank you for taking time to read this and any donation will be very much appreciated xx
