Zoe's Davies Annual Charity Trek 2018

Davies Annual Charity Trek 2018 · 26 May 2018
On Saturday 26th May I've opted to give up my Saturday of the bank holiday weekend to complete a trek around Castleton in the Peak district with a bunch of my colleagues at the Davies Group.
I jumped on board with no hestitation, given my connection with this charity. Those who know me how close to my heart Cancer charities are given my story- but the sad thing is everyone who I probably know has some story to tell in regards to big C impacting their life in some way.
Well my Story you're thinking. From a young age when life should remain innocent and you live in a little bubble protected from all the harsh realities that come with later life. That was abruptly taken from me. A just 6 years old when I should have been worrying and crying about the scratches on my knees, I was crying daily unsure why this was happening to my Daddy. None of the other children in my school were saying this was happening to their Dad.
The only clear memories i have really with my Dad are following the moment I was told he was very poorly so to remember every single day onwards. It's those I hold so close to my heart. From running home from school to jumping straight into his bed where he was resting to tell him all about my day at school to the very last few trips I made to the hospital where I'd skip down the corridor to his room. Within a couple of weeks following my 6th birthday I became a little girl lost in this world. My daddy could no longer fight continue his fight and I became the girl that would never get to hear the words I love you from him or get to hug or be wrapped in his arms again.
Today being a 24 year old woman I look back on those few memories i have with love in my heart and the hope that one day I'll hear the news that a cure has been found. I live in hope that for when the cure is found they'll never have to be another little girl that has to lose their parent to this horrible disease.
