Dear friends and family,
This Christmas, instread of relaxing at home, I am going to be heading off to Uganda, in East Africa, to attempt to climb 4,321m up to the summit of Mount Elgon followed by a second climb of 3,068m up to the top of Mount Kaddam. In less than 3 weeks, I'm going to be climbing higher than I've climbed in all my life! Not only that, but I've also committed to raising £4,000 for what is truly a worthy cause. With your help, I know that we can achieve this! I hope you will come on this journey with me by supporting me both morally and financially. All contributions big or small are gratefully received.
WHY am I doing this?
It's certainly not because I'm a fitness freak! Far from it! With 6-8 hours of hiking each day, it's a very good cause that's got me up and training on wet Sunday mornings! The charity that I am raising money for is Focus Humanitarian Assistance.
FOCUS...what's that?
Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) is an international disaster relief and recovery charity. Focus works globally to help save lives following natural or man-made disasters and helps vulnerable people reduce their need for humanitarian aid through disaster prevention and awareness programmes. Some recent examples include food aid programmes in Afghanistan, providing medical aid and clothing in the US after Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, helping in the Indian Ocean Tsunami rescue efforts and earthquake awareness programmes in Portugal.
