Story
Thank you for visiting. And thank you a hundred times for donating. Don't worry about anything, it is all safe and secure on the JustGiving site. The charity that I am running for (African Revival) has been using it since 2005.
Just a little bit of info about the race and I. The London Marathon had been going nearly 30 years and is considered a 'major' on the marathon circuit. Last year, Jen and I stood and watched, one hungover Sunday, morning and both of us were struck with the sheer emotion coming from the runners and the supporters. It was obvious that this was a special event and an event that I wanted to be a part of. Everynight since that day I have had a dream that I was sprinting over London Bridge on my way to a personal best time arm and arm with athelets and celebs with thousands cheering me on. Honestly, I have never had that dream but what better way to highlight our time in London than crossing Tower Bridge in an event like this?
Turns out that the London Marathon is not an easy race to get into. You can apply for a ballot place and if you get one you can run the race for only the 50 pound fee. The other option is obtaining a charity place but even those are hard to come by. Either I missed the ballot (likely) or wanted to do it the hard way becasue I gained my place by running for a charity in exchange for raising three thousand pounds. I was lucky enough to be granted my spot by African Revival. They are a small charity with great intentions who put a lot on the line to obtain their 8 marathon entries. It is big publicity to have your name involved with the London Marathon but what I was to learn is that charities must, inesence, buy marathon places at a fee far, far exceeding 50 pounds. So, for a small charity like African Revival it is a risky investment and a lot rides on their runners fundraising ability. With your help I intend to make good on my promise of raising three thousand pounds.
You can donate from Canada or Asia or anywhere else in the world! Credit and debit cards are no problem. However, the site only takes donations in British Pounds so make sure that you know how much you are happily donating by using a currency converter like the one below. This will avoid any surprises when the bill comes in and ensure that you are in fact happily donating. http://www.xe.com/ucc
There is really no other way to put it,
Thank you,
