Shaving my hair · 5 February 2013

SHAK exists to support around 1,000 renal patients of St Helier Renal Unit and its satellites throughout S.W London, Surrey and northern West Sussex. SHAK is run by renal patient and carers, it supports patients and the unit to the tune of £50k annually - all raised via bequests, donations and fund raising events of all types.

Story

I'm shaving my head to raise awarness and funds for St Helier's Renal Unit in Sutton. All of the money I raise will be passed on to the charity so please give generously! You can increase your donation if you are a UK taxpayer by ticking the 'Gift Aid' option - at no extra cost to yourselves!

St Helier's Renal Unit is run by its patients, their friends, families and carers. Your donations will help to provide care and support for those with renal failure and chronic kidney disease, helping to fund important medical equipment and giving families of sufferers financial relief.

My head will be shaved on Tuesday 12th March as part of a fundraising event at Nescot College, in association with Apprenticeship Week. This is designed to promote apprenticeships as a bigger part of businesses and the economy. The shaven hair will then be donated to a wig-making company that works specifically with chemotherapy patients and alopecia clients, so there will be no waste!
