We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Abby's Heroes are Cycling from Lands End to John 'O' Groats starting on the 26th May 2012 - 900 miles unless we get lost. Abby's Heroes Cyclists are Iain Kelly, Graham Kelly, David Kelly, Joe Emms and Stephen Menzies. Alan Kelly is our back up driver. Read below to find out why we are doing the cycle:

I have set up Abby's Heroes as a way of raising money for children with Cerebral Palsy like Abby.

Days after Abby's birth it was discovered that she had a bleed in her brain and she had to spend the first 2 weeks of her life in Intensive care and Special care in the Princess royal Maternity Hospital. After her discharge from hospital it was noticed that Abby had Hydrocephalus which is excess fluid in her brain. Abby had to monitored every 2 weeks by a Surgeon in Yorkhill Hospital who was worried he may have to operate to put in a shunt to release the pressure on her brain. Thankfully to date this has not had to happen and is now very unlikely.

Just before Abby's 1st Birthday we were told that Abby had cerebral Palsy which affects her balance and co-ordination. Now just after her 3rd birthday Abby is still unable to walk. With the help of Abby's regular physio and a specialist Physio trained through Bobath Abby's movement is improving all the time and we are striving to get her walking.

We have had so much support from Yorkhill and Abby's community care team that I wanted to give something back to those who have helped our daughter, and also help children with similar problems. Any money that is raised by Abby's Heroes will go into a fund through the Yorkhill Foundation and be split equally by Yorkhill and Bobath Scotland.
