Lisa's story: I blame sleep deprivation. One morning, bleary-eyed and deranged after four months of sleepless nights with a new baby, it dawned on me that it would be a fine idea to launch myself off Spinnaker Tower. It's a 300 foot abseil. The only abseil I've done before was about 30 feet, and that was many years ago. And last time I went up Spinnaker Tower and looked through the glass floor I felt a bit sick. But hey, it's for charity. And it's the day before my birthday (you're only 41 once). And, more importantly, it'll give me a few minutes peace and quiet away from my screamy baby. (I don't mean that, Sol. Well, not really...).
Allan's story: Why is it the Chilton family always manage to sucker me into doing crazy things? Every time I see this photo I am terrified! they only do it because they know I am to darn stubborn to back out once they have tricked me into signing up for something.... Bill had only asked if I would like to go abseiling... nothing about a 300 foot pinnacle of terror!
