My story

NEXT CHALLENGE on May 19th 2012: The North Face 100, Sydney - http://www2.thenorthface.com.au/100/.

Thanks for checking out our fundraising page. Hopefully you'll be keen to follow and support our efforts.

Why are we supporting the Prostate Cancer Charity? Well we're both men, for one (although that fact may be questionable at the end of the brutal training hours spent in the saddle - saddle sore is no joke). Like 100% of men, we've been born with a prostate gland. The whereabouts of which is the butt of many jokes, but when that sucker develops cancer (which it does in an alarmingly high number of men), it's no laughing matter.

So it's time to give prostate cancer the finger, and if this challenge helps to raise a small amount of awareness for the disease, then we'll be pretty happy.

There are personal reasons for taking this on too. Ross's Grandad has been fighting prostate cancer for some time, and like anyone tackling cancer there have been good days, and there have been hard days. The situation has definitely hit home the fact that prostate cancer can often go unnoticed for a long time, yet with regular check-ups (especially for those in the prevalent age range) it can be easy to monitor change. 36,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, making it our number one cancer. We all know at least one man, so let's help to spread the word about prostate cancer.

Since we are both fortunate to have reasonavbly well functioning bodies, these challenges are an opportunity for us to give something back.

PREVIOUS CHALLENGE:

The Accelerace Challenge, 2011, was epic in every way - the endurance, the scenery, the terrain, the weather, the highs and the lows. 14 DAYS, 2000 MILES, 9 COUNTRIES, on road mountain and trail. Thanks to everyone who supported our efforts.

Thanks to everyone who has helped and supported us so far. Please pass on our story - "Like" it on Facebook, Tweet about it, write about it, blog about it and Digg It.
