Our I&A advisers and volunteers have helped older people in Calderdale & Kirklees access £1,384,627 in previously unclaimed welfare benefits and grants over the last 12 months (an average of £3,836 per person).  We provide confidential advice and assistance, which includes checking eligibility for Pension Credit, Council tax, Housing benefit and other welfare benefits.

We also undertake home visits to those older vulnerable people who would otherwise be unable to access entitlements to disability benefits such at Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance. (However, our home visiting service will now be much more limited due to having one less member of staff available to do them)

 All of our specialist advisers are on short term contracts funded from various sources such as Local Authority, Charitable Trusts and Primary Care Trusts.  If we cannot secure further funding then we may not be able to provide this service beyond October 2010, as much of our Information & Advice funding will have expired by then
