Thanks for visiting my fundraising page and for supporting the work of the Florence Nightingale Hospice. This year marks the seventh anniversary of my mum (Jackie) passing away and to commemorate this I am attempting to run one of the seven wonders of the world in aid of the hospice she was so proud to work at. On August 6th I will be attempting to complete one of the world's most extreme running challenges - to run the Inca Trail in Peru in just one day. The Trail is 28 miles long and will take me from 8,000 ft above sea level to 15,000 ft above sea level and back down. Over the course of the run I will cover 14,000 ft of ascent/descent and have completed, in one day, a trail that usually takes 4 days to hike. To put the altitude into perspective Britain's highest mountain (Ben Nevis) is a mere 4400 feet high - I will be running at nearly 4 times this height and will effectively have run up and down Ben Nevis twice by the time I have (hopefully) finished - then there is the small matter of the available oxygen at this altitude being some 45% less! The highest of the 3 major passes I will be climbing is worryingly titled "Dead Woman's Pass" - Thankfully, it is not titled "Dead, Overweight Joggers's Pass" so I should be ok! Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!
