"TAKING ACTION TO SUPPORT VICTIMS OF THE LONDON RIOTS"

This campaign has been started in conjunction with the 'We Love London Appeal' to help raise funds for individuals and families who have lost homes, personal possessions and small businesses in the recent London Riots. I am currently working with a small group of volunteers across London to help make a positive difference to our neighbours and fellow Londoners in need.

To help raise funds, I will be attempting a 12 hour non stop DJ challenge on Saturday 24 September 2011 at the Stamford Hill Community Centre, Stamford Hill, Hackney N16 6RS. This is our first event and we will be organising more events for the cause over the next 12 months.

Whilst attempting my personal DJ challenge, we would like to invite participants to take part in the 'Actions Speak Louder' sponsored danceathon to help achieve our total of £5,000. There will also be a number of information stands on the day from local voluntary groups and statutory organisations who support local  communities and victims of crime. There will also be a donation drop off tent onsite for people to leave clothes, food, etc for those in needs. These items will be directed to various support funds across London (one of which will be the Mayor's Special Fund).

 

HOW WILL YOUR DONATION MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Your contribution will be used to give hardship grants via the Capital Community Foundation (CCF) which has channelled over £30m into local communities over the past 15 years. CCF is a quality accreditted member of The Community Foundation Network whose members have worked on other emergency relief programme such as the Cumbria and South Yorkshire Flood Appeals. 100% of your donation will go to people and communities in the need.

All donations and external funds raised by the 'Actions Speak Louder Campaign' will be signposted into the 'We Love London Appeal' via the Community Capital Foundation.
