Having just completed my first ever half marathon, all in aid of Robbie, our next venture is the Snowdonia Mountain Marathon. I have helped to organise the event and also am leading one of the teams. We have to complete a marathon (26 miles), ascending  and descending 11,000 feet in 2 days across Snowdonia. The marathon starts with a "warm" up ascent of Snowdon before going on to other peaks, all of which we have to walk between.

 

For those of you who dont know Robbie is a robot that helps us provide the latest state of the art treatment for prostate cancer. Although a robot, Robbie isn't in charge of the operation - we are but what he allows us to do is perform intricate keyhole surgery that is extremely difficult by conventional means. This means that many more patients gain all the benefits of minimally invasive surgery with less blood loss, less post op pain, faster discharge and faster return to normal life. Like all good things he is not cheap to buy and we have to raise over £ 1 million paid equally over 4 years to keep him here at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. We have managed to pay for the first year already but we need to keep going.
