The Harlequins Rugby League Foundation team are embarking on a challenge of a lifetime when they take on the 900 miles from London to Perpignan by bike.
‘Pedal to Perpignan’ will begin at Harlequins Rugby League’s home ground the Twickenham Stoop Stadium on Monday 18 July and will be complete when they arrive in Perpignan ready for Harlequins Rugby League’s Super League clash against Catalans Dragons on Saturday 30 July; riding an average of 80 miles a day and camping every night en-route.
The team will be made up of all 7 of the Foundation’s full time staff; Chris Baxter, Lucy Duncombe, Andy Fairhurst, Amy Howard, Adam Kyle, Darren Pugsley and Aran Quinn.
The team will be put to the test over the 12 days and all the money raised will go towards the Harlequins Rugby League Foundation’s physical activity programmes. Harlequins Rugby League Foundation deliver to over thirty thousand children every year with Rugby League, dance, physical education and sports activities and in the 2011-2012 school year will be expanding Rugby League coaching into Guildford and Surrey, establishing a new Rugby League community department in East London and growing our existing work in Kingston, Richmond and Hounslow.
