Is this deja vu?!
You'd think I learned last year or maybe I am mad?
Ok so last year I proved I can commit myself to the months of training and I can run a marathon and survive. So what's next?
No not two marathons (yet!), I want to perfect this one first. Last year I ran it, enjoyed it and raised a fantastic sum for a wonderful charity.
This year I'm running for a charity I work for every Christmas and I intend on beating last year's time. I found out someone had dropped out at the end of December and I had to help.
Crisis is a charity I'm incredibly passionate about. To help with your decision to sponsor me I'm making a series of 2 minute videos of me talking about Crisis, what they do and sharing my experiences of working with them at Christmas (I want to give a more hands on feel this year and really show you as the sponsor where your money goes).
19/3 - 1 month and 7 days to go and a quarter of a way to my target. I've not marketed me doing this as hard this year and I've changed my training and feeling stronger and confident. Check back for regular updates from now on.
26/3 - Exactly one month today I will have completed the London Marathon. The training in snow (lots of it this year), rain and wind will of all paid off. Today I started my final push for sponsors, including on site massage..
08/04 - 18 days to go. I had a good long run at the weekend and I did my first charity massage today which was a great success. I visited a friend's office and massaged for three hours and all the people who had a massage paid whatever they could towards my marathon fund. I've got three more booking coming up, so let me know if you have any other ideas!
24/04 - The last Friday before the big day and I'm over the moon with my sponsorship total. I've wanted to update this more but simply not had the time between work, training and massaging to raise sponsorship. The massage has been a great success, raising over £500 so far in total so special thanks to all of you who asked and made it possible for me to come into your workplace. My number for Sunday is 37578... I'm nervous and excited, obviously I've got a better idea of what to expect after last year, but you never can tell what will happen on the day, let's hope it's not too hot!
I look forward to seeing some of you on the day and if you're at home I believe there's a service you can use to keep track of me by entering my number.
Thank you again :-)
27/04 - The day after. Wow, that was hot. I know some of you were there and the sun made for a great day out, but the amount of people I saw needing assistance and collapsed at the side of the road compared to the year before was scary. I'm pleased to say I made it round and got off lightly with a bit of sunburn and some chafing. It wasn't my finest piece of running, but I did it.
The amount of sponsorship I've raised this year has just been phenomenal and I'm really grateful to every one of you that helped and supported me.
To be continued....?
Incidentally if you are reading this for the first time, my sponsorship page will remain open and any donations you make will go towards Crisis.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Crisis gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
