My story

Mount Everest – also called Sagarmatha National Park is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height above sea level of its summit, 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in Asia, is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet, China.

We will trek from Lukla to the South Base Camp which is located 17’600 feet above sea level and will take two weeks.

Our modest expedition will provide us with a fantastic opportunity to experience an amazing part of the world; at the same time we would like to give something back to the communities who make our journey possible.

Nepal is considered to be one of the world's poorest countries with about 31 percent of the population living on less than US$1 a day.

In addition, poverty in the villages has led to migration of children to the cities, where they end up on the streets, homeless and exploited. In Kathmandu alone, about 500 children are living on the streets.

The education status of children is poor. About 20 percent of all primary-school aged children do not attend school. Only 10 percent of students complete secondary school.

We will be raising funds through sponsorship and donating everything raised to Classrooms in the Clouds, a charity formed in the UK to raise funds and materials to assist in the provision of education to the children of Nepal.

The aim of Classrooms in the Clouds is to provide the funds and equipment that local people need to become empowered to create educational opportunities for their families. For more information please check out the following; www.classroomintheclouds.org

All funds raised will be transferred to Nepal to be used in the building, maintenance, and upgrading of schools and facilities to enable the children to receive a proper education.

In Hong Kong our fund raising activities are being coordinated by Jade Macnamara a student of South Island School. Jade will ensure that all donors receive email confirmation together with a report of the expedition and funds collected once complete.

Should you wish to contribute there are a number of ways to do so;

1.        Through Just Giving, simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

 2.       United Kingdom – Cheques made payable to ‘Classroom in the Clouds’ and sent to David Rowley 4 Pollard Drive, Stapeley Cheshire CW5 7EQ. UK (Please note on the back of the cheque Everest Base Camp, Adam Wilson)

 3.       Hong Kong – Cheques made payable to ‘Adam Wilson’ and sent to Jade Macnamara 31 B, 5 Shouson Hill Road, Shouson Hill. Hong Kong. (Please note Classroom in the clouds on the back of the cheque)

 To ensure accurate recording for Hong Kong donations it would be greatly appreciated if you could confirm by email to jademac93@hotmail.com

 Many thanks for all your support

 Kindest regards

 Adam, John, Aiden & Alex
