Update 13/10/2010
Well, I did it...just.
It was such an enjoyable day that I would recommend it to everyone for next year! - the sun was shining, a warm temperature, fantastic atmosphere along the route, and the London sightseeing attractions to keep me going.
But what really made a huge difference was knowing that you sponsored me so generously in aid of YWCA England & Wales, which is absolutely wonderful. I am so grateful for your support - thank you very much.
My time? Well, let's say that the fastest runner (1h05'40) completed the race more than twice as quickly as I did..... OK, my watch showed 2h14'53, but I have to accept the official time of 2h15'16... I will do better next time!
Thank you once again. If you would like to know more about YWCA, please visit www.ywca.org.uk where you can also sign-up for our bi-monthly e-newsletters.

Kind regards

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I ran the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on 10/10/10 to raise funds for YWCA England & .
YWCA is the leading charity working with the most disadvantaged young women in and . During 2009/10, YWCA helped just under 8,500 girls and women.Young women face unique problems in today's society. They are largely unheard and lack influence. YWCA wants a future where they can overcome prejudice and take charge of their own lives. YWCA run services to support them and campaign with them to combat the discrimination they face. YWCA relies on the generosity of the general public to start new programmes and reach additional women who need their support. Your sponsorship will help to do just that. Please dig deep and donate now. Here is how your donation can help girls and young women from disadvantaged communities: - £7 could enable a young mum or mum-to-be to attend a drop-in session where she will find support and information to help her look after herself and her baby. - £23 is how much it costs to provide a young woman with one-to-one counselling so she can talk through her problems and get advice and information to find a solution that’s right for her. - £42 can mean six young women can attend a course on parenting, sexual health or coping with anxiety, giving them the skills and support to become the people they want to be. - £100 pays for a YWCA tutor to deliver an 8 week course to teach women with learning disabilities about health, life choices and the right to say no. How each £1 you donate will be spent: - 90p is spent directly on work with girls and women at YWCA centres, and on policy, research and campaigning work to bring about positive and lasting change for thousands of young women across England and Wales. - 8p is invested to generate funds in the future. - 2p is spent on governance. Thank you for your support.
