The average amount it costs to ensure a species of plant will never become extinct is £2,000 (or around $3,500). While not everyone will have access to that amount of money, it is a sum that a group of friends could raise doing a sponsored walk or cycle (we know because Kew's Digital team have raised enough to Save a Species by cycling to the Millennium Seed Bank).

We have collected together here 13 species at £2,000 each and a further fifteen at £1,000 that you could sponsor outright. Have a look and picture yourself as the person or group who made sure that one of these species is protected forever. Once you have done your sponsored walk, sat in a bath of beans or persuaded the boss that safeguarding the world's flora is no bad thing for the company's reputation, send us an email and we'll get back to you to discuss which species you'd like to be known for saving.

But some of you probably have chosen your species already and are about to click on the the donate button below. Thank you! We hope you can do us one more favour and email Nitasha Kul on n.kul@kew.org or contact her on 020 8332 3243 to confirm your choice.
