Adoption UK began life in 1971 as a small support group founded by adoptive parents who recognised, even back then, adoptive families’ needs for support. It soon grew and over the years significantly influenced adoption support - from raising awareness of the long-term effects of trauma and neglect, to developing groundbreaking services and influencing policy makers.

Adoption UK is now a charitable trust with a membership arm of nearly 5,000 members. We are also a recognised adoption support agency in England, working with many local authorities and practitioners.

Today, Adoption UK supports adoptive parents as they welcome children into their lives from the care system. The charity help them understand their children’s backgrounds and behaviour, as well as how to apply therapeutic parenting skills as a different method of parenting and supporting these children– something which helps adoptions to succeed.

With a nod to there recent “outstanding” inspection rating from Ofsted, Adoption UK will spend 2011 celebrating 40 years of outstanding adoption support.

But Adoption UK's 40th birthday is not just about celebrating the past, they want to highlight there work and fundraise for what they are doing now and in the future.

Osbornes Solicitors LLP are happy to be working with Adoption UK on the event taking place on 26/10/11 and appreciate all voluntary donations, which will go to the 40th campaign.
