We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

One in three people has dementia when they die.

The Alzheimer's Society funds research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia.

My challenge is to visit pubs at the eight compass points around Britain (North, North-East, East, South-East, South, South-West, West and North-West) plus a pub at the geographical centre.  Additionally, I will also be visiting other pubs at more extreme northerly, easterly and southerly locations.  I will also visit other ‘extreme’ pubs including the oldest pub, the smallest pub, the highest pub, the most remote pub and the most crooked pub in Britain.  There were also some unique pubs that looked like they would be worth a visit including the only pub in Britain built into a cliff face and pub built to look like a pack of cards!  Myself and mate, Jonathan Mitcham are looking at visiting 20 pubs across the land although, if time, may get to visit a couple of other interesting looking ones.

Clearly we do not encourage or partake in drink-driving.  The rules of this challenge are to stop and have a drink at the pub but it doesn’t have to be an alcoholic one.

The trip will take in Land’s End and John O’Groats we will be attempting this epic journey over 8 days from 20th-27th August.  The total mileage anticipated will be in the region of 2,700 miles.  To make it more interesting, we will not use any sat-nav kit, just a big, old road atlas.  We will be attempting the journey in my Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6.  Some might say that Alfas don’t have the best reputation for reliability so this aspect might make our journey more of a challenge!
