head shave · 13 April 2013

Its prime purpose is to provide appropriate help, medical, financial and otherwise, to current and retired jockeys who are injured, unable to ride or in need.

Story

Hi my name is Clare Nicholls and together with my jockey husband Adrian we are doing a head shave to raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund’s new rehabilitation centre ‘Jack Berry House’ near Malton. This is the second project of its kind to be built by the Injured Jockeys Fund and will provide the best possible care for jockeys all over the north of the UK.
The second charity we are aiming to help is NewBeginningsHorse which helps retrain and rehabilitate retired racehorses. These two charities equally deserve recognition and support as racing is full of highs and lows for both jockeys and the horses they ride. Frequently it is those that are not constantly in the news that can easily be forgotten yet often need the most assistance.
Adrian and I have worked within horse racing for many years, and both wish to give a something back in this fun lighthearted way to the profession we love and enjoy. The head shave will take place on May 18 at Thirsk Racecourse.Thank you to everyone who supports us.
