Firewalk · 9 February 2013
My greatest ever fear is... FIRE*. The way it slowly flickers into and out of existence with serrated edges and a concentrated scorching core only there for excess stimulation of nociceptive fibres. And now, I have chosen to walk on it for a basically infinite distance of 20 feet.
As some of you may know one of the reasons why I am studying Neuroscience at university is because my younger sister is a sufferer of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS causes damage to the coating around the wires of the brain which leads to a wide variety of symptoms - problems with vision, speech, balance, motor control and so on. This summer I had a placement at the Burden Neurological Institute and took part in some of the pioneering research in MS treatment. I witnessed the difference a bit of extra funding could make to pushing the already promising research forward and eventually beating MS.
Please donate generously as this is my first step in fundraising!
*For dramatic purposes only, I'm not actually scared of fire... well I am if I have to step on it... so I guess I am.
This will take place at Cabot Circus on 09/02/13 http://www.mssociety.org.uk/ms-events/2012/08/firewalk-bristol
